The character qualities you need to obtain and have wealth

Stovall is a self-made millionaire and he wants you to be one too. This book is not a “how to,” though. It is about the principles of wealth – what kind of a person you need to be to get it and who you need to be when you have it.
He reminds you that money is a tool. It represents choices. The actual money is not the issue, he says. It's not the number of zeros in your bank balance. “If you have the money you need to do all of the things you want in your life, you are financially successful...” (20)
Some of his suggestions are straightforward and practical. Get rid of debt. Establish an emergency fund. Live on a budget. Don't try to impress others with your wealth. He also gives the character qualities you must have. Persistence. Focus. The ability to try again if you fail your first time.
His actual means for obtaining your wealth may surprise you. It puts all the responsibility on you to choose the actual vehicle. But he gives you lots of help at the book's web site.
Reading this book will not guarantee you'll become a millionaire. It will help you understand how it is done and what kind of person you need to be to become one.

Practical advice

I just read Jim Stovall's new book The Millionaire Map. Having had the good fortune of hearing Stovall speak recently, I knew what a powerful presenter he was. Thus, I was eager to see if he communicated as well in writing as he does in person.
The Millionaire Map does not disappoint. Stovall's prose is quite accessible, and the book is an easy read. In The Millionaire Map Stovall imparts the lessons he has learned over the years in climbing out of poverty to wealth. (Stovall would be quick to add that the poverty he overcame was 1st world, not 3rd world, but when someone has to take a loaf of bread out of the grocery cart at the checkout line and put it back on the shelf - as Stovall did - because he didn't have enough money to his name to pay for it, that counts as poverty.)
The Millionaire Map includes an appropriate mix of Stovall's personal experiences with general principles applicable to everyone. Stovall's advice is practical, and in The Millionaire Map he pulls off what good writers aspire to - educating while he entertains.

Wise Counsel and Humble Advice on Financial Success

The Millionaire Map is an explanation from firsthand experience of the nuts and bolts in becoming financially successful, while practicing wise stewardship. Mr. Stovall helps the reader want to focus and persevere, by his sharing of personal stories, along with his words of encouragement about potential roadblocks.
As a financial consultant with a background in biblical financial principles, I am familiar with some of the advice (such as children and wealth, and the need for mentors) but found it powerful to see this wisdom in one place in a short, readable form.
