About the Author
Raymond Chang received his B.Sc. degree in chemistry from London University, England and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Yale University. �After doing postdoctoral research at Washington University and teaching for a year at Hunter College, he joined the chemistry at Williams College, where he has taught since 1968. �Professor Chang has written books on spectroscopy, physical chemistry, and industrial chemistry.

the code

we ordered this for our son. He called us after his first day of class to say that there is a code that was supposed to be on a card in the book, so that he could get on-line for parts of the book. There was no such thing, and he had to pay $60 to get a new code so that he could take the class. and this is on top of a very expensive book to start! Was the card with the code in the packaging and inadvertently thrown out? we don't know---it would have been nice to know to look for it.

What I needed for the class

It has the same numbering as the class edition (non-international) and, unlike previous international versions I've found, is in color. Whoo!

Like all textbooks

It's a standard textbook. Like all textbooks, when they explain something, sometimes they don't explain it thorough enough. I was better off not looking in the textbook or looking online for help. I maybe used it once or twice; the teacher's notes were more helpful.
